I Just had mine rebuilt. The problem with dropping another Motor in is this. You don't know if it was Rebuilt the right way.. Did they CUT the block if so what did they set it to? Did they time everything right? 8-12k They are Pull outs for sure meaning they are NOT rebuilt for that price and i wouldn't chance it. I Spent close to 29k But i had Extra stuff done during my rebuild. EGR Fix,I Had my turbo Rebuilt at the same time had over 600k Orginal miles, New Damper put on, Front structure, New head and some coolant hoses and what not done. 20-23k is the normal price of a ISX to be rebuilt. I Would find a GOOD shop thats gonna do everything right. Would suck to spend 20k and only get 200k before it needs another rebuild. Seen it a lot lately..
People are running to the cheapest shops around and its not paying for itself then cry that cummins is a junk motor -
About around 50k for an engine swap and all the hours and what not.Rideandrepair and Dave_in_AZ Thank this.

I've heard good things about the cummins Warranty. The only down side if u have a *Tune* they won't do anything for warranty. The shop i used gave me a 1 year 100k mile warranty with free overhead after 50k miles so they can check everything out.dosgatos, onetime42, HopeOverMope and 2 others Thank this.

Don’t know if you already have a good Mechanic, or not. The Guy that did mine is in Detroit. He’s done a bunch of ISXs, One of which is a good friend of mine.Along with a couple Cats, Detroit’s, total of 6 engines, that I know of personally. Upgrades like radiator, or anything else, already taken off, for the Overhaul, can be done fir parts only. Find a good local Mechanic, through word of mouth, they’re out there. Usually don’t have to advertise.
onetime42 Thanks this. -
