Here is the deal.... I leased a truck and it did not come with plates, I was gonna use an unnamed carrier and it seems that they have all kinds of thing that I do not agree with. I'm in killer pocket California and I've got a payment due and I need to run like the devil. I need plates to go to another company but can't afford em so I was gonna use theirs. What's the worst that could happen if I'm stopped? This would be a local gig. I just need to save up to get my own thing going.... feel free to chime in!.... I gotta do what I gotta do but as long as the punishment isn't too bad!... apportioned plates are $3I and local plates are $2k plus $4k in taxes...crazy!!!!

Is this an instate plate or an irp plate? If irp I guaranty that if you don't return the plate they will have it cancelled within a day or two.

bzinger and Bean Jr. Thank this.

Gonna have to buy one. The company you are leasing to is going to require proof it is properly registered.

    bzinger Thanks this.

Many seasonal drivers or owners hauling material on contract jobs buy stickers one month at a time. My first irp was 1800 and truck is listed non op with California. Don't know how you figure it on a lease truck. If you have one in your area go to a dmv office that specializes in commercial truck. Commercial Driving Test Offices by Location

It is a great way to get the truck impounded by the chp and the fines will be a lot more than the plate.

I have to ask, why are you being so cheap?

    What does a plate cost?

    $2k in Cali?

Don't be offended but if you want to play in a big boy game, you have to have the money to play.

This is a business, it isn't a hobby or a right or something that you can skate by.

The fines and tow recovery would be more than $3k, not to mention you may be dumped by your insurance and can't be insured.

Again don't be offended by my comments, not intended for you to get twisted by them.
