Some of those days are resets on the road. I usually stay out 3 to 4 weeks and then take off 5 to as many as 10 days off.

Here's some of the info I got about LP yesterday. All of the pay, fuel discounts, and expenses are the same if you bring your own truck to FCC.

    • 3.5yr term
    • Pay 10% of the value of the truck to own it after the lease
    • $1000 deposit
    • $620/wk truck payment
    • $1.07-$1.29 per mile loaded
    • $0.29 per mile fuel surcharge (currently)
    • $0.92 per mile empty
    • You get 75% of detention pay that FCC gets from the customer
    • $0.01 per mile quarterly bonus
    • New drive tires at beginning of lease
    • $284/ mo estimated insurance
    • $19/mo prepass
    • $12/wk Qualcomm rental
    • $32/mo bobtail insurance
    • I also wrote down a $140/mo payment and a $28/wk payment and I don't remember what they were for, but it is part of your expenses nonetheless.
    • Use their EFS card to fuel and it comes out of your settlement every week
    • On average your fuel discount will be about $0.45 off per gallon
    • Extended warranty included and starts at 500k miles.

They only have Freightliner Cascadias available for lease at the moment, but they did say they could have peterbilt and Kenworth trucks available for lease in the future. They're previous company trucks with about 250k miles and none of our peterbilt/Kenworth company trucks have that many miles yet. They did say the payments could be higher for those, so that's something to consider.

I didn't write down all the info, so I may have left some stuff out.

Edit for additional info: total fixed costs add up to about $800 per week. You are also required to put $0.10 per mile into a maintenance account

My fixed costs are $800 a week. They require .10 a mile for maintenance, I recommend bumping that a few cents until you have a nice cushion in your maintenance account. You will also need to pay quarterly taxes. I take 30% of my settlement every week and put it away for taxes.

What exactly do you mean by fixed costs? Is that insurance, prepass, Qualcomm etc?

Also yes, I figured paying your taxes was a given. You're on 1099 right?

Yes fixed costs are your weekly regular expenses, truck payment, insurance, etc. Believe it or not taxes is what gets a lot of first time O/O in trouble. They see these big settlements hitting their bank every week, they go out and start buying new toys (boats, motorcycles, cars) and don’t have the fiscal discipline to put money away for taxes, and then tax time tolls around and they find out they owe 10 to 15K to Uncle Sam.

Ah, okay. That makes sense because if you add up everything I listed it's $779 a week.

Dropped in Topeka and bounced to Lawrence and picked up a preloaded trailer with two stops, Omaha and Fremont. kicked those off and I am currently in Fremont getting an overdue service. Preplanned on a load that’s ready in Aurora, Nebraska going to Fontana, California for a drop Saturday.

Are you using an excel spreadsheet for tracking your data or is it a special financial program?
