    I spent the winter of 2005/06 from Sept to April in the valley and it was expensive relative to home in MB.
    Good place to take a winter vacation though.

    I was living in a small camper trailer and on Oct 1, the official end of tourist season, I moved into a motel on the lake in Penticton.
    When the tourists clear out the room rates drop to a third of the summer rate.
    Was paying $640.00 a month for a suite with a big bedroom, fully equipped kitchen, living room, free cable, free internet, a swimming pool and a nearly empty city to ride my bike around.
    Groceries and gas were pricey, real estate prices were crazy.

    I've considered moving to MB. I have some family that live outside of Winnipeg. Actually quite enjoy the Whiteshell/Falcon Lake area.

    The Whiteshell is actually a very cool place, geographically, right on the edge of the flat land to hills transition as you head east, or west I suppose.

    If you enjoy beaches, it's hard to beat Manitoba.
    Grand Beach used to be one of Playboy's top ten beaches in the world.

    First time out to Whiteshell I literally missed the 50th anniversary of the Falcon Lake Incident by 6 days. As a bit of a paranormal/UFO buff I was a little disappointed.

    Me to.
    I was right into the Falcon Lake encounter, still am, and actually saw Charlie Redstar back in the mid 70's, watched it maneuver for a couple minutes before it took off, very smooth, very fast, very cool.

    Was scared to death at the time, so was the guy from ON I was running with, but it's pretty cool now, except the only person who believes me is my best friend. lol

    For the present, I’m just looking to get north of the border for a couple years, wherever I can find work.

    I’ve spent time in southern SK, and liked the area, even though it’s not exactly desolate. The ease of transferring my license also will play a part, initially as well. One hurdle at a time...

    Sadly you're probably over-qualified for Canada. We like idiots that shouldn't handle a pedal bike driving our trucks.......

    @rzl-dzl

    Where would be the best starting point for finding jobs in the oil field?
