Just signed a 4 yr deal earlier this month and I see on the website they have a open job listed -
If we had TTR in my old iron days I would be using that as a training tool. Ive learned or relearned rather so much and was corrected and taught here and there more than so much. You never stop learning, and every day is a chance to train. -
Awesome, I am a 120 member myself 8 years as a dues paying member. I have an easy gig, but the pay is not really there. I was thinking about applying. I have 5 years experience. Close to 400k miles. I’ve been hauling hazmat in a dry van. Don’t have experience hauling tanker vehicle. I guess my question is what is the qualifications? Will they train a guy?
-
I know you’re not a recruiter, but could you give me information on what a new guy could except coming in. Starting pay? How many years to scale out. And working days and hours. Overnights.
thank you -
I think that the pool of quality drivers w tank exp is shrinking.
You sound like you have the experience.
Usually around 6 weeks of training.
First week just ride along and observe then as the trainer sees fit you move on to driving, trailer operation, fills, computer work and doing customer stops. No layovers during training.
Basically they want critical thinkers that possess situational awareness.
People that think about what they are doing before making a error.
Once you've learned how the equipment functions it really isn't that difficult as the focus is on safety..at least that's what they'll tell you but we all know it all about the moneytscottme and superpet39 Thank this. -
No difference whatsoever on trips between senior and junior drivers as all are dispatched from N.Y. by computer. I may go weeks w/o seeing a supervisor
32 p/h and .60 per mile I think. OT after 10.
They run 24/7/365 and bid annually on start time /days off and vacation.
Start times every 30 to 60 minutes.
As a new guy you get what's left.
I've had 1700, 1900, 0001, 1300 and currently start at 9:30. The more seniority you gain the better your slot.
We have at least 5 due to retire soon.
Always 2 days off in a row.
Probably 2-3 layovers a month normally, which is always subject to change as we would cover for Chicago or Kansas City and even Denver should the need arise.
It's a good gig overall. -
Okay thank you for the information. Last question. You can send me in mailbox if you can and don’t mind What’s the phone # down there for the branch. I googled it but inner Grover heights has no phone #
I just had a few questions for supervisor before I apply -
