So I have decided to go to crst. It is my option at this point due to my circumstances. It is what I need to do to get my feet back in the door. I have seen some things about how the facility up there is not so nice and is set up in a bunk setting.I am having a hard time with this since everything i see or read is like 2 or 3 years old. My question is , I will be there for 2 weeks, I see on google there is a roadway inn across the street. Since in the long run I pay for my stay at their facility anyway, i am wondering if the roadway inn gives a good rate or does anyone know of another hotel close buy that does? If I can get close to what I would pay the company I am willing to go that route in order to have a bit of a self sustaining accommodation rather than a dorm setting. Also, i would not have self transportation so that would be another thing to factor in. Any suggestions from anyone who has been there and done that? Please I would like to hear from someone who was there somewhat recently and not "dont go there ,there are ripping you off, bottom feeders etc, I am doing what I need to do for myself.

A lot of hotels have a shuttle that can take you to CRST or if rodeway is across the street then just make sure youre in the lobby every morning wautung fir the crst van.You can try priceline.com and bid on a room with cheaper rates. There's an online operator that'll help you.

Yea get a nice hotel make sure it has a Pool! also make sure you get a nice hotel (with a pool of course) when your on the road. Just have your trainer drop you off it the afternoon and pick you up in the morning. ok now yes I'm being a little overboard just think of it like if you were going to go into the Military and you told your drill sergeant that you will be staying at the hotel across the street from the base while you are in basic training because you don't like the bunk setup. what will you do when your in a truck? Not sure what kind of 15 year truck driving experience you have done but you might want to prepare yourself for a bunk mate now because if running team was that easy everyone would have a bunk mate. I hope you do great in training and the best of luck to you Driver!

yup I figured I couldnt go without some smart remarks there Milkman719. Yes I do know how it is to be in a truck and in a truck with a teammate. It is not my first rodeo. Drove over the road about 5 years, some years ago and have been driving trucks since I was 18 back when there was no such thing as a cdl. Not that I need to give you a resume of my experiance Mr 3 years. My point is if I have to pay out of my pocket at least I could have a room not basic training.O and I would never join the armed forces, I just wanted to know if the "barracks" were ok and were not disgusting like a 3rd world country or smelled like a%%. I saw some pretty nasty pictures/videos about the conditions. I will do great in training cause I was born to drive a truck.
O and thanks for you straight up answer Pattyj -
I have no experience with CRST so I don't even know where the motel is or what city it is in. However, the common practice is that companies who do a lot of training end up buying the motel they use. They then just have another company manage the thing. I would be surprised if you can beat the company rate at their preferred hotel.

Hey if Shaggy can afford a hotel then why not.I know I would rather then share a room and don't know if you'll have all your stuff stolen.

yea I guess if he has the money might as well spend it at a hotel. I guess that my way of thinking is if I was starting out fresh I would want to save my money and stay were they offer free accommodations. I would also check with them to see if they have a secure place for any valuables. I know I was being a smart ### but if I offended you I'm sorry just thought it was odd someone just starting out would spend 35-65 a night for a hotel. yes I'm brand new too I have only been driving for 3 almost 4 years now. I used the military as an example because served in the US Army. So once again Good luck to you and I hope everything works out for you.

Ok Milkman. I apologize for my rant. I was just aggravated because most times on these forums all you get is smarta$$$ answers and I just want to hear something down to earth. I'm not getting back out here to play games on a forum. Im 45 and not into bantering about simple things. I actually have more than 15 yrs truck experience but i thought that would be a neutral number not to show that i know it all because I dont. I learn something new everyday. Im not a super trucker. Yes its not typical to spend money out front but luckily I have a good support behind me that I can do this. The company charges me 150 for the accommodations anyway just not up front it would be deducted from my pay, so thats why I figured whats the difference if I can get a lil comfort before living in the ol box again with a co driver. If it was a few days thats one thing, no problem, but 2 weeks whew! Im not rich I just have good family and friends.Hopefully we could become forum friends here and help each other out from time to time, and you live in one of my favorite states. Be safe out there and happy trucking. Shaggy0824
Milkman719 and pattyj Thank this.
