Ask this guy...

Besides...the only thing you can "count" on is being parked for 8, 10 or 34 hours. What happens when the Qualcomm says "Please Help" and they want you to bail them out?

 

It is illegal to have any alcohol in a truck unless it's the load you are hauling.

 

I carry it in the fridge of my truck. Get out to locations with these flatbeds out in the middle of nowhere, and it's nice to drag out the cooker and have a couple brewskies.

 

As lilbit stated to wit: it is illegal to have alcohol in the truck with the exception of alcohol being the load in the trailer. In the tractor.........nope.

FMCSR Part 392.
Subpart A—General §392.5 Alcohol prohibition. (a) No driver shall—
(a)(1) Use alcohol, as defined in §382.107 of this subchapter, or be under the influence of alcohol, within 4 hours before going on duty or operating, or having physical control of, a commercial motor vehicle; or
(a)(2) Use alcohol, be under the influence of alcohol, or have any measured alcohol concentration or detected presence of alcohol, while on duty, or operating, or in physical control of a commercial motor vehicle; or
(a)(3) Be on duty or operate a commercial motor vehicle while the driver possesses wine of not less than one-half of one per centum of alcohol by volume, beer as defined in 26 U.S.C. 5052(a), of the Internal Revenue Code of 1954, and distilled spirits as defined in section 5002(a)(8), of such Code. However, this does not apply to possession of wine, beer, or distilled spirits which are:
(a)(3)(i) Manifested and transported as part of a shipment;

 

My new truck doesn't have a fridge, so I don't carry it anymore, lol

 

Reading above, it does not state you can not have beer in your truck while you are OFF duty. Better not be sitting in driver seat or have keys in ignition tho...

 

Note the sections in blue. That means that you cannot possess any alcohol unless it is on a manifest (BOL), and being transported as part of the load.
