Ok drivers, do I have a problem? I come out of a 2010 Volvo with a 435 D13 in it, pulling tankers from Va to Mo grossing 75-76k. Truck ran through w. Va pretty decent. I just bought a 2015 cascadia with a 455 DD15 with 3.42 rears last week and I just ran my first load with it and it is an absolute dog, so much so that I took it to a Detroit shop insisting that I have a fuel or air issue. They said they ran every test possible and the motor is actual above average. No problems found, and no CEL. They said the last company had it set low, so they put it to 475. I left, felt the exact same. This time realizing the rpm’s were limited to 1550. Took it to freightliner in Evansville IN and they said progressive shift was on from last company, turned it off. Deadhead back to Va, soon as I get to w. Va, it loses GOBS of speed on regular turnpike grades while empty! And while loaded with a 44k load, same grades that 435 D13 took, I’m having to drop #### near 2 gears lower and at the bottom of the powerband in the DD15, it doesn’t even THINK about holding a gear. And if I’m sitting on the cruise at 68mph and have to slow down to 60, it takes what seems like 5 mins to make that 8mph back up! Put my foot to there, can hear the turbo spool but feels flat as hell.
is there any other parameters I should have looked at or is this just the nature of this motor, I’ve read that it was gutless but never did I imagine this gutless, is this you guys experience? Or is something wrong? This can’t be life. By the way, fuel mileage is good throughout all this.
DD15....wtf??

If it were my truck, I would visit the Diesel Dr and let him work his magic.
If you have a warranty on the motor still, be warned, it can void it. -
-
yea that was going to be the first thing I did with whatever I bought, but I do have warranty and I’ll be ###### if I can’t use it when I need itMike250rs Thanks this.

Torque is at 1650 if I’m not mistaken.
-
Your volvo d13 was most likely set at 1750...
-
That would explain the gutless issue.
-
What is your rpm at cruising speed and what was the cruise rpm in the Volvo?
-
That’s crazy, the 475 and 505 hp setting has a 1650 torque rating. The 530 and 560 setting has a tq rating of 1800. I would’ve never imagined any factory tq rating on a DD15 would feel this terrible. Even while empty it’s pathetic, like some sort of load based setting cutting fuel

they were about the same, like 1425 at 68. When I floored that Volvo to pass, that mf got up and outta there. When I floor this cascadia, I may as well pop a bag of popcorn.
