Hello everyone! I need a little bit of help. I have a 2019 International LT Series. Today my DEF gauge dropped, and my service engine light came on. I know my DEF tank isn't empty as I filled it yesterday. I'm trying to learn to fix things on my own, if I'm able in order to reduce maintenance fees. I know that in some trucks there's a wire that is connected to the battery terminal I believe, and that could be disconnected or broke and cause this issue as well. Any help with this issue would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance for your help.

It could either be a bad wire/ground or the sensor went bad. Sadly 'new' doesn't mean trouble-free. Just get it diagnosed is your best bet, before trying a bunch of things that may or may not work. Is this a fleet rig or are you O/O?

With a 2019 wouldn’t you still be covered under warranty?
-
Unfortunately I'm not. The electrical part of the warranty is 2yrs or 100,000 miles, and I'm well over the 100,000 mile mark.

I'm a lease purchase, so I take care of all maintenance cost.
-
I also just had the batteries replaced about 2 weeks ago, so I'm not sure whether or not they might've forgot to connect the wire.

Sounds like a QLS sensor went bad. But get it diagnosed before parts are thrownDanamg84 Thanks this.

DEF gauge went down? What does that mean? To empty or to 6 o'clock?
Danamg84 Thanks this. -
I'm a lease purchase, but still pay for everything out of pocket. However I did get it fixed, there were 3 wires in the DEF System harness that were shorting out.

My DEF gauge would go completely to the empty position, and say service engine, then it would read full on the DEF gauge, and then itd say low DEF refill soon. I did however get it fixed yesterday. There were 3 wires in the DEF system wiring harness that were shorting out.
