All of us. Except for Double-Clutch. He drives an automatic.

Just having a little fun with you. But floating gears is pretty standard outside of CDL school.

I like floating, but there's some stuff I can't do without the clutch still...

I once had a tackle gear box bounce out of a boat on Lake Amistad on some real rough water and it floated until I could get back to it and fish it out.

We had a young kid learning to drive our single axel dump and Bub told him to not use the clutch and float the gears. The kid stopped the truck, looked at him and said very seriously " why would they put the clutch in the truck if you aren't supposed to use it ? ". Needless to say that was his last day of single axel training. He is a laborer for our plumber now.

    BTW, I float also.

I use the clutch to start or stop or smooth out a shift when needed, other than that, I don't touch it.

    rigs have a clutch?

learn your rpm's, the hardest part for me was getting the tap to the gas right for downshifting, specially in a 680 they rev so fast the 1st time i downshifted i ###### near blew the motor. that would have happened double clutching or not. but seriously it sounds complicated and more difficult than it really is but youll get it in a couple of days.

just remember, slow is smooth, smooth is fast. you dont have to quickly slam it into the next gear up or down.
