Moved there in March of ‘80. Like it? Meh. Staying? Nope. My wife and I are house hunting in Orange Beach/Daphne Alabama. We are taking our money from our home and paying cash for a new home up there to retire. This will be done by February. I’m actually meeting my wife there on the 7th to begin the process.

 

Can I give a respectful response? Or are you going to suspend or ban me if I do?

You do a good job on this forum and I realize moderation is a thankless and difficult job. I would like to give a respectful response, but if you're going to ban and don't want me to respond, then I will respect your wishes and not view this thread anymore.

 

My votes for orange beach @JohnBoy by far the best gulf coast vacation I’ve ever had, but it didn’t feel touristy. I’d move there in a heartbeat if I could afford it. There’s a guy on YouTube, Peter Santenello, he did a great video on coastal Alabama, I believe it featured Daphne.

 

Man... That's a long time, good on you for being able to retire, I'm not staying in Florida either, them hurricanes are running me out of that state lol. I've been looking at Texas for a while now but I'm open to other places as well, it's a 10 years old plan after all.

@Opus was right, I'm not on staff any more. This is a better fit for me. Much better.
Now I don't have to be neutral. I can take sides. I can argue. I can have opinions and voice them, no matter how ridiculous they are. I can be wrong. I can be misinformed. I can be biased. I can be prejudiced. If so inclined I could be a bigoted cracker, like so many of our members, and I'll probably get away with it. I can make racist comments and, as a member, I'm just one more voice crying in the wilderness. Staff, regardless of the veracity of their personal feelings, don't get to do that.
So, don't worry about being banned. If you speak your truth in a civil manner the staff will probably take note of it and take whatever action they deem necessary. Most of the time it's just a warning. You have to screw up really bad to be banned. I'll go further here. If you're banned you very probably deserved it.
If you are banned for speaking the truth you have to ask yourself if this is really where you wanted to be
