Yes, Garmin Nuvi does the job. There is a new one out that takes into consideration that we are driving trucks.
They are a good tool, and a money saver by keeping out of route miles to a minimum. But, they do not take the place of ones brain or common sense. Call and at least get the general directions into a shipper or receiver, they know the quickest and SAFEST ways in, especially in a big city with clearance problems, like Chicago.
And don't waste your money on one of those silly laptop stands. They are ticketing drivers for having their laptops mounted on them while in reach of the driver. They consider your laptop as a television set. Not to be on or open while driving, it is considered a distraction. This has been discussed here and elsewhere.
Mikempddadld Thanks this. -
nothing will ever replace my map but they are very common. I'd still never fallow one without verifying the route. we are in trucks, not cars

I have one and I love it. But like another driver said they do not take the place of common sense. You need to know if you are legal on the roads that the GPS is taking you on and about low clearances. Other than that match up the GPS with the directions that your company has. If the GPS says to take ex 4 for example and the directions say to take ex 5, then take ex 5 and the GPS will recalculate the route and generaly it will be the same as your directions.........Peace
