I believe it is against the law to have an age limit. Atleast an advertised age limit. The only place that I know of that can get away with age discrimination is working as an air traffic controller and the cut off to be hired is 35.

Other than the normal must be 21 of course.

It's not age at all, it's being able to move, squat, reach, climb, bend, for flatbed work. Trucking companies don't care if you're 100 yrs. old, as long as you can do the job. Some tanker companies are strict like that also. The refrigerated and dry van companies aren't as stringent. Neither are the intermodal companies such as Comtrak, because they usually just drop & hook.

    From their web page...

    Requirements

You must be at least 21 years old. Your hiring area, driving record, job stability, and job references must match up with Maverick's requirements and will be evaluated when you apply with us.

    Thanks
I am well over the minimum age requirement. My concerns were why would they ask a persons date of birth on the app.

The only thing you can do is try. If there is some sort of internal age limit for a company I am sure you will never be told that is the reason.

The only reason I was inquiring is because I didn't want Maverick judging me on my age without giving me a chance. I'm 50 and I am physically fit. I've worked for the same employer for 30 years and I have no health issues. As far as the latter part I think I meet their qualifications.

From what I have read... your age won't be an issue at all.

I was 50 when I was hired and If I'm not mistaken Jim "The Hut" was around 58 or 59 when he was hired.

50 is young in trucking. Walk into any truckstop and look at the gray hair. Most truckers are probably over 50 and many in their 60's and 70's. If you can pass a simple DOT physical, you're hired. Ensure your blood pressure & sugar levels are good; medication is OK also for these issues.
