That's interstate commerce. You need minimum cargo insurance, liablility etc. Your truck needs a IFTA or apportioned to do this work. You need to write down the miles or have ELD gps automatically send and compile that data for each state you run, and more improtantly track which state you buy fuel, how much you bought and what taxes (Reefer is offroad, no taxes etc) you paid in each state for the year.
If you are into something that involved permits in Kentucky and expenses and so on, you keep records of that as well. If you were in some state that collected tolls, you recorded that for later use in expenses etc each year. In each and all of those states.
You also will be based on how fuel purchasing goes and miles run pay taxes to each state you run in Or get refunds depending on the situation from each state. In other words you can run a whole accounting dept filled with people to bean counter that stuff for your outfit.
You might even discover relocating to a different state in the USA to run out of offers significant financial benefit to you in a variety of ways. If Illinois is getting way too expensive, off you go. Emigrate the whole business to another state. Or close everything up and go home to do something else.
What do I know? Nothing at all. Just someone who hears things over the years. There should be people you hire to worry about all that. If you don't do well dealing with it yourself. -
Just need a kyu number. It's a fuel permit. You can a temp one if you never go to kentucy really If you pick up and drop off a load in ky then youd need a intrastate permit too. Ky is one of those mafia states that wants you to bendover backwards for them

All of those states that require you to do more work for the privilege of entering them need to get over themselves.
