Hey all,
John from central florida here. I went to CDL school in orlando and got my license in february. Having a hard time finding a job. I've been out on disability for the past four years and my lack of work is becoming an issue. The only company that has "pre-hired" me is US Express. CR England and JB Hunt have showed an interest but I haven't called them back as of yet. I'm supposed to leave for orientation for US Ex. on 3-15-08. The recruiter called me today and said she has to talk to me. We've been playing telephone tag since.
I guess I need some advice on how to proceed. I'm ready to go back to work and I have my Drs. clearance. I worked for the Post office for
16 1/2 years before disability. I know I can do it I just need a chance.
I know the companies I listed above are not on the to die for list of jobs. Should I take what I can get at this point or continue applying or what?
BTW my MVR is ok. 1 accident and 1 ticket in the last three years. DWI
11 years ago. No felonies or misdemeanors. Thanks. Sorry post is so long I'm just frustrated and anxious to get to work!![]()

Keep looking. Stay away from JoBHunt and C.Our. England Advertisement. You want no part of those outfits. Trust me. There are thousands of companies out there, and probably tens that will hire you given your present circumstances. At least some of those should be good. You'll just have to keep rooting around to find them. Jobber and England make it easy to find a job, and with those guys it's 'easy come, easy go'. With trucking companies, nothing that is easy to get is worth having for very long.

Look at truckstops near your home. You will see what companies run that traffic lane. Do your homework and try Prime, Schneider, and others. Like others tell you watch out for companies that want you to be a lumper instead of a driver. Good luck

Dave had a good point, visit truck stops in your area and check out companies who you see quite a bit of.
Frankly, disability isn't that big of an issue ... many folks go through it. You just have to be persistant and sell yourself to who you want to work for.
Stay away from CR England and JB Hunt, their rep is so bad that 'bad' doesn't even describe it. -
Thanks guys. I'll keep looking. This is something I really want to do and its time to get back to work. I guess its better to keep looking than accept the first company that wants to take me to the dance! I don't need a company putting a bad taste in my mouth right off the start. Been married twice and boy do I know the shine does wear off. LOL.
