If you are running faster than another driver.
This is what happened to me Ill make it the short version.
I had caught up to a schnieder truck, It s not like I magicaly appeared at his back door I was just running faster than him. My truck is turned down to 65 we were in a 70mph zone I-20 MI-Al . I had a light load on , I think the pumpkin was running about 63 he was def slower than me I ran behind him for a while. Than we were going up a hill I go to pass him before we crest the top Im at his front bumper. We go down hill he starts to pass me .I can understand this he was going down Im light . So we flatten out Im still at his front bumper He is not letting me in. I try to radio him look at him in the window he ignores me. At this point I know he is playing with me. I could not fall back in line there was another truck I tried to radio him no response.
WHAT IS THE PROPER EDICATE FOR PASSING I THINK I DID WHAT WAS RIGHT. I THINK HE WAS JUST JACKING W/ME.

I would never try to pass pulling a grade unless you're flying and the other is not. For 2mph difference what I think you should have done was relax and wait for a long stretch and watch to make sure there's no other vehicles you're going to hold up while you pass.

I had this happen to me more than once (with a Schneider truck) on the way down here. Cruising along doing 62-63, go to pass, suddenly he's doing 65 and I have to fall back. I don't doubt that it's intentional, as I had followed both for a while and the speed didn't vary that much.

That's why I love being an O/O with an ungoverned truck ... I don't have that problem. Having said that, I try and just leave it on cruise and pass doing my typical 60ish (I get passed a whole lot more than I pass). Unfortunately, too many drivers suffer from SPS (small member syndrome) to let you pass.

I supposed my current truck is un governed. I just don't know where. I've never had it over 80.

I just love these morons that pull these stunts. I've got my cruise set 2 or 3 faster than them. When I come up to pass they suddenly find new speed. After about 30 seconds of their games I just open the 500 kitty up a little more and slide by them like only kitty power can and leave them lookin at tail lights.

What sucks is the cars do it, too. Passed the same one twice earlier and gave up the 3rd time. It doesn't take any kitty power for them to keep ya from passing, but it's irritating regardless of who does it.

I try to avoid the turtle races. If someone is creeping by me like that I'll back off a couple of miles an hour and let them get by. When it's the other way and I know it will take forever to get by someone I'll just follow. When you're talking about dropping two miles an hour I figure I'd have to follow them for a very long time before it made any significant difference to my trip. And that never happens, They'll always pull off before too long or I'll get a good chance to pass them. I figure it's not worth holding up traffic or getting stressed out over something that's only going to add a couple of minutes to my day.

I'm likewise,Had a truck passing me on 84 in Id this afternoon. Took him five minutes to get even with me ,then he just sat there! I had the cruise set and had to go to the pedal to get out of it and let him by. If you can't find the cruise control swicth, at least put your foot in it a little bit and get around..:smt070:smt072:smt072

One day crossing NE I had the same morons pass me probably 20 times. I had my cruise set at the same speed across the entire state and I passed them the same 20 times. Its really scary that folks with no clue are able to get drivers licenses.
