I use one and have never been red lighted in Georgia. 95% of the time I get the green light. Some states will red light yo randomly to check your paperwork or for an inspection of your equipment. I wouldnt run without one.

In Georgia now, got the red light around 1am near the tn/ga border yesterday.
they checked the weight as usual, dot is rather thick on I-75.

what the heck happened in Georgia?

Bottom line, if a company can see when where via prepass, why cant dot?

You are one of the lucky few then. I can get a green in tn.,ky.,il.,mo.,ar., 95% of the time but not in ga.

I don't know. But I have a Feeling they can because in Oregon and Tennessee both during a random at a scale house I have been asked if I have prepass while they looked through my logs. I don’t have prepass so not sure, but seems like a odd question if they can’t look at times.

I was having dinner in the Ocala Petro last night and overheard some other drivers report the same thing about GA DOT training. Haven't seen it myself, but also haven't been up thru Ringold in a couple weeks and am usually passing those scales when they're shut down at dark thirty in the morning or on weekends.

In addition to the training that's already been mentioned, there has been a run of bad big truck accidents around Atlanta in the past two weeks. One that baffles me was earlier this week when 4 semis occupied the same space on I-85 northbound just north of the I-285 (NE) interchange at 0400. Whiskey Tango Foxtrot. Maybe Governor Deal told someone in Public Safety to put their donuts down and go fix that.

GSP and Gwinnett County have also had a virtual dragnet out along I-85 between mm 104 Pleasant Hill Rd and 113 at the I-985 split for several weeks. I can't remember a recent time I've been thru there and not seen at least 3-5 police cars either writing tickets or waiting for their next victim.

I do know that on I-985 CMV enforcement has a reputation for going after less than the usual semi traffic. Going after construction and landscaping trucks/trailers to bust people for running without DOT numbers, authority, insurance, CDL, that sort of thing. The coverage on I-85 nearby is new over the last couple months and seems to be more speed enforcement.

That's what I'm thinking. I can count the number of green lights I've gotten at open Georgia scales on less than two hands. Not such a big deal as long as nobody has to slow to a crawl to read the letter "X" and figure out that's not the lane to take.

Oregon, Washington, Idaho, Kentucky and a few other states run (or used to run) on the NorPass system. This system is different from PrePass. With NorPass you DON'T pay a monthly fee. This is why your info can be accessed. With PrePass you Pay a monthly fee. All PrePass does is alert the scale that all your companie's info is up to date. Again, a quick phone call to PrePass and/or NorPass would confirm this.

It's still a data point that the state will non miss an opportunity with. Certainly that carrier detail to be captured will be stored with a timestamp by the state that owns the scale. Even when they're closed. So maybe Prepass isn't directly supplying a database to search thru, but that isn't stopping them from using the data they do get.

fact is, the ga dot has the prepaas off most times where you will get the red light, about the only time to get a green now a days is when the scales are closed. don't know why, but it has become normal for georgia

I don't think it has anything to do with training, it happens on I-95 and I-16,i20,i85,and i75 the jokers just have it off and are making everyone come in for the most part

Would think the tracking aspect would be moot unless someone is using a pre paid cash only cell phone.
