I sleep 10+ hours, wash up, and drive 2 hours and I'm drowsy, 4 hours, I'm a near zombie...wtf?
I chew gum, drink energy drink, and it helps a little, but I don't like relying on that, and it only helps, not solves the problem
Any tips on keeping the sleep away?
prevent drowsiness?

Try a little less sleep. 7 hours max for me or I'll be like you.

I drive overnights, and yes, it can be a real problem. Here's a few tips I use:
1. Stay away from energy shots/ drinks/ pills. They're really bad for you.
2. Engage your mind. Listen to talk radio, audio books, do trip math in your head, anything to engage your mind.
3. Coffee or Mt. Dew in small amounts is ok. Drink something cold.
4. My husband chews sunflower seeds, the kind you have to spit out the shell. Chewing anything helps.
5. Change your seat position to something unfamiliar but still safe.
6. If all else fails, get out and walk. Do some jumping jacks. Get your blood flowing. And start incorporating some daily exercise every day. It helps with your stamina in the long run.
7. And lastly, if you're on the fluffy side, lose the weight. It really does help you feel better all the way around.
NEVER DRIVE SICK!!!
Hope that helps! GL out there.TRKRSHONEY, road_runner, Cy Ran and 1 other person Thank this. -
Sounds like your sleeping too much.

get off the ####### chemicals and start to drink water. Your diet is killing you.
Exercise your mind. Do trip planning, think of anything. Anything.TRKRSHONEY Thanks this. -
Yellow Jackets, RJS, Crossroads, Pink Hearts. Never mind. I had a flashback and thought this was the early 70's.

drink more water, less caffiene, and try sleeping less. also might want to go see a doctor and have all your blood levels checked. I experienced exactly the same thing about a year ago,and found out my vitamin b-12 level was extremely low. It was that low the doctor asked how i even functioned. I ended up going for shots three times a week for three weeks, and now i take b12 supplements daily. hope that helps

On a serious note, get your D25 Hydroxy checked. That's you D-3 level. If you take Prilosec, Nexium, or even Zantac a lot, your body will not asorb D-3. The one year I was on Prilosec my D-3 level droped to just before critical.
