Well, I was in Gary this week and see 1 good driver that had a 8 ft tall load , his tarps separated on the top and he actually took the time to come to the yard to ask for help fixing it. NOW THAT IS A MAVERICK DRIVER and I thanked him for doing the right thing.
Like Sewerman say, saying nothing is the worst you could do to another driver that don't do it right. I am always going to talk to the driver and ask him the question to understand why he's doing it this way. If he listen then I'll help him teach and do it the right way. If he doesn't and refuse to do it right, then I am afraid that I will make the call.

In the yard , another driver had an unsecured skidded coil per the DOT. forgot that Trip chain in the back. When I ask him , he said Trip chains are not required in the back. Told me i wasn't correct. Well, I told him that it would not be required if he used a friction mat underneath and crisscross the chains on top. Well, he looked at me like I was a smart idiot of some sort.

Look at regs guys. Friction mat is A SECUREMENT. see the books you sign under 393.108 (g)

    (g) Friction mats which are not marked or rated by the manufacturer shall be considered to provide resistance to horizontal movement equal to 50 percent of the weight placed on the mat.

I would add that you are getting paid higher than other flatbed outfit to secure it the Maverick way. It is part of the job description. So if someone choose to do it the other way even if it is safe , then you are breaking the promise to fulfill your JOB description.

    sewerman and jxu417 Thank this.
