Ok got a strange thing happening when I'm under boost. The turbo sounds fine till I get to about 30 psi of boost then it starts sounding like a loud noise as if the turbo is scrapping the wall of the housing, but when I check the turbo it looks fine and has very little play like a turbo should have. Replaced all the air to air boots and put a new air to air in. The noise is loud enough that it drowns out the turbo spooling, engine noise, and even my straight stacks with no muffler on. I'm baffled as to what it could be. I will put the boot off the front of the turbo and take pics of the wheels tomorrow. If anyone has had this problem before please advise. Maybe Mr. Haney can help me out as I bought this turbo from him. Stage 2 turbo. Thanks for any help or advise in advance.

what kind of truck? did you just recently take the muffler off?

i know the noise your talking about. had it on a 09 389 with isx. once the driver muffler got replaced. noise was gone. first time i heard the noise. is when the connector between the two pipes broke. i thought the turbo was coming apart. a new connector made it quieter but the noise was still untill the muffler got replace.

it happened at 20 and above. literally sounded like the blades were spinning against the housing. hacking it up.

I have no muffler on my truck. Checked the turbo and it's fine. I think I might have found my problem will know more tomorrow when I put another set of new air to air boots on. As Mr. Haney gave me some great tips today that worked pretty good. Will let you know once I check it out tomorrow.

Maybe egr cooler. Saw it on an isx, vibrations caused a it to crack where the clamp fit the two pieces together. Just a thought. Also like said above, manifold gasket..possibly a bearing in alt or other ?

Sorry guy's took pic's and sent them to Mr.Haney he said turbo looked good. Found one boot that wouldn't seal correctly replaced it got better but noise still happens above 33 psi. So I am still searching for the problem. Will get upto seattle this weekend and do my restart there and really look thing's over. Will post back as soon as I get done checking everything out.

    Cetane+ Thanks this.
