Because I can go to sleep/wake up to a view of trees/mountains/deserts/cornfields -- anything EXCEPT a row of trucks. Because I can open my windows and get fresh air and quiet instead of hearing nearby idling engines & purging air dryers while choking on diesel fumes/cigarette smoke. Because my trailer will be shading my cab from the sun. Because the lot is sloped and I want my head higher than my feet (or the front of my bunk higher than the back).
WHY?!

Because sometimes I'm just too danged tired to back in safely! It's called working for a living...try it sometime!
dog-c and The Challenger Thank this. -
Because I'd rather one of you 3 week wonders back into my trailer rather than my truck..
TruckDuo, The Challenger, BobcatVolvo and 2 others Thank this. -
In the words of that great philosopher Yogi Berra:
"It's déjà vu all over again!" -
Some noise sensitive sleepers will nose into a spot so they do not have to listen to a reefer unit screaming all night long. As far as the teddy bear goes, I guess it's better than a lot lizard or a co-driver with hygiene issues!
The Challenger Thanks this. -
Maybe they pull in forward so they don't have to listen to reefers/idling trucks.
The Challenger Thanks this. -
Everyone pretty much covered it. I had to nose into a spot last night because I was afraid to lose it by circling around and getting setup for the spot. I was able to sleep with the truck off and windows down. I was amazed at how many trucks were idling on a 50 degree night. I also nosed in because it was a straight back out. Kinda laughed at one post about the bunk leaning forward. I've nosed in before just because of that, I'd probably roll out of bed if she was leaning forward too much.
I've seen the teddy bear up front. Was thinking about a blow up doll for fun, but I don't like any unnecessary attention... -
