So I was late today because I was dispatched to the wrong address, they sent me the same address over message, workflow and BOL.
The direction I got given to me were exit 52E the one I took.
Turns out it’s a showroom that no longer accepts deliveries (even tho they have a dock and google earth shows a portable dock).
The correct address was a completely different address at the end of a dead end street. Now dispatch is acting like it’s my fault the load was late and I’m kind of pissed off.
I should note I walked a half mile to the other location that was down a weight restricted road but that was an abandoned office of the customer.
So how am I supposed to verify if an address is correct or not?
Would other companies consider this my screw up?
Wrong address

Nope, just another day in trucking.
Google Earth, screen shot camera of the address number time date stamped with street corner signs matching the BOL and dispatch information. A shot of the dead building interior would emphase the major screw up of your entire sales and dispatching inside your company.
Take a lot of pictures of everything. If anyone squeals inside your Company, lay those evidence on them. It's a brave new world. Video and picture with time and date stamps do not lie. Much better than but, eh, oh, you, hey etc...
One time a set of directions led me to a forest. Then I found through the forest floor I was on railroad tracks with ballast. And there the customer be over yonder.
Driving on railroad tracks is not welcome. I quit that day. If they cannot get directions right...
I deem you at where you were told. So that's settled. Now if a pompous suit reclining in his worn out office chair straining to hold his weight intones to you two words "Service failure" that is a red hot brand that will follow you to other companies. Document everything for the next employer with the pictures and video.truckdriver31, Cattleman84 and mhyn Thank this. -
Welcome to trucking tell dispatch to gi e u the correct information next time, u can only do so much. The only thing u couldve done is called the customer if u had a phone number on the bills , but sometimes that is useless as well because the office morons give u worse directions than the wrong address in the first place. Dont let it get to u it will happen again im sure. Just try to plan ur trip so u arrive atleast an hour early before ur appt so it gives u some room if u get lost or its wrong address etc.

I made the mistake of only arriving a half hour before my appointment and dispatch wouldn’t answer peoplenet or phone calls.
I thought I had been smart, parking less than a mile away (customer doesn’t allow overnight parking, not that it mattered because they stopped getting deliveries at that location)Cattleman84, Lepton1, D.Tibbitt and 2 others Thank this. -
If the address is different no.
You should not be held responsible and the shipper/receiver should be charged a reconsignment fee.
As a company driver we used to get $50 of the recogsignment charge.Powder Joints, D.Tibbitt and x1Heavy Thank this. -
Go to staples and buy a DVD that contains hundreds of millions of Phone Numbers for business in USA indexed by name, physical address etc. Once you put that into the laptop you are going to gain numbers never given to drivers.
We were on Tyler road in Texas in a storm roared through town and not a #### thing on. Found a walmart, input the address found that store phone number. Manager answered. Asked her where their distribution center was at?
She needed some exlplaining to understand we are truckers rolling at 60 in the Texas rain late for the DC for walmart there. We ended up being about 3 miles off and a turn to get there. So that worked out well.Njhandofdoom, D.Tibbitt, Mototom and 2 others Thank this. -

I would have no reason not to give this directory a try.
