I have thought about the whole cb radio thing after the Dallas pile up.How it could have not been as bad if more drivers used their radio.

The devil knows you’re there...staceydude and MACK E-6 Thank this. -
Thank goodness none of those idiots wasted money on a CB or were distracted by that suawk box. I'm sure 30 minutes after the last collision Google Maps showed a traffic backup on the smartphone.
Gearjammin' Penguin, MACK E-6, Dadetrucking305 and 1 other person Thank this. -

On chains. OTR drivers don’t know how long they’re going to need them. They don’t know the area. They won’t put on to run many miles.
Yet most in Denver know i70 in the mountains. Might have to chain up. We know it’s just to get over. But also we try to time going over mid day. Won’t need chains unless in a storm.
I remember back doing trash. Had a forest service place with residences and operations etc. The idiot doing the plowing would leave 5 inches of snow over the gravel roads. Only plow good to the headquarters building. I had to go all over that place. It was a pain. I had only double chains to put on. Took me as long to put them on as it did to empty all the dumpsters. A couple times I had to chain up. I made sure I ran over the pavement parts and in front of headquarters. Those chains had spikes and tore up their pavement.MACK E-6 and Wasted Thyme Thank this.
