You can make a good argument for either route. It really depends on when you think you'll be moving through the Metroplex.

I take the express lanes through Fort Worth and avoid Dallas whenever possible.
Also, 281 south of Wichita Falls has a detour around one town that is kind of a pain in the ###. I drove through there a couple days ago.
Was nice to bypass the weigh stations last week but not recommended any other week unless you really just want to take the scenic route.NavigatorWife Thanks this. -
Don’t worry txdot is getting ready to start bids on double decking I-35 from SA to DFW. Proposed possible 12 lanes both directions. Got some friends at Engle Rd. and 35 getting ready to move out of the old family house because the highway will be 2 ft from it.
