Drive long enough and you will see lots of things that should not be done, Might find your self doing something dumb also. Could happen. LOL

Sadly this is not that rare! I see it every day more than a few times a day. It's usually the steering wheel holder types that drive for the giant governed fleets that are the worst offenders.

    This week alone I've seen:

    a. A Swft driver texting while weaving all over 2 lanes.
    b. A Werner driver trying to read his atlas while drifting all over the place.
    c. A container hauler in California yesterday passed me and changed
lanes on me causing me to hit my brakes hard to avoid him.
    Talking on the phone.
    d. Some guy with his laundry wrapped around his head tailgating so close
all I could see was the back half of his trailer...On the phone.
    e. Countless idiots driving all over the road in trucks on their laptops, text
, Qualcom, reading books...You name it!

These fools are so bad at what we do that they don't even know how badly they are driving. If you say something to them on the radio about it they'll say " You drive your truck and I'll drive mine" (if they even have the radio on)

The CDL mills are putting far more idiots in trucks than truck drivers unfortunately.

I was doing 55 across the turnpike in Illinois last night, won't be doing that again. I looked up when someone hollered at the truck behind me to find him 2 feet from my rear bumper. He'd apparently almost run me right over before noticing I was there and locking the brakes up.

There is no turnpike in IL., you mean toll road I guess. Yeah BlackW900 I agree, the rookies think it,s a hassle to drive so they monkey around.Like the young driver in flipp flops 1 foot on the dash, driving and watching a portable dvd movie with head phones on, swerving all over the road.

Turnpike is a defining word, not always a proper name. It's still a turnpike no matter what they call it. Just like a rest area is still a parking lot.

Then they will claim that it's your fault for not moving over or slowing down for them to merge.

I almost want to start a drivers ed school to teach these people the right way to drive. Anybody want to partner up, i'll bet we could make good money? :)

We can lobby that people need to retake a road test every 10 years with a truck driver in the jump-seat to tell 'em what they're doing wrong.

I've come across tons of people who boast about what great drivers they are, always doing the speed limit (in the center lane) and haven't ever had an accident!

It never occurs to them that they haven't been in an accident because of other peoples efforts to dodge their stupidity.

Yeah, geez, I just made it out of Chicago again, nearly didn't. It's even worse now! I especially love it when by some miracle they manage to avoid dying trying to drive under you only to race up the left side, cut you off, and jam on their brakes while crouched down so they can look you in the eye. And the only cops I saw the 2.5 days I was up there were escorting a huge slow moving funeral procession onto and down the interstate. One of them nearly died right there by pulling out to block an exit ramp with no warning. If that had been a big truck instead of a box truck that locked his brakes up, that cop would have been dead, along with a few other unlucky people.

No sense to it at all anymore.

I am guilty of this alot at times but as someone already stated if i cant do it I'm not a true trucker,Mind you when i have to read a map i make sure that there is not another car at least a blocks length in front of me.. I have pictures on my regular Myspace that my lady took of me doing just the task mentioned, shes the type she will write the whole route down before she starts out... i tell her at times thats gonna be useless as an accident can occur, traffic jams, construction, eventually that maps gonna be needed,,, hell GPS is not even accurate.
