Congrats grc on passing your test. I just got back from 8 days of Evo I. I wanted to get home by Monday so I could go to skid pad training at my CDL school. They got me home a little early.

I was unable to get any free wifi access while I was out. I also trained with a flatbed driver. I was usually too worn out at the end of the day to go wandering around looking for a wifi connection.

My weakest link so far is downshifting. At one point my trainer had me drive on US-20 across northern Indiana to give me a little more shifting practice. I do pretty well when I know whats ahead. However, when going down a short off ramp I have a little trouble getting through the gears. I think a little more practice will cure it.

The Marshfield and Gary terminals have wifi, at least when you're inside the building. The Joplin Petro has a good connection in the entire parking lot. That's as much as I've been able to find for free.

Get a mobile broadband card once the paychecks start rolling in. It's cheaper than buying every truck stop chain's wifi.

tj .... the test took me 45 min .... it had questions requiring you to use the atlas, fmscr, and drg. I didn't think it was hard at all.

What is the skid pad I see being discussed? Does Roehl do that during or after Evo III?

    tjordan Thanks this.

tj ..... I'm sure you'll do fine on it. You can take as long as needed on it. I think the purpose of it is to be sure you know how to use an atlas as well as know how to look up info in the fmscr and drg.

    Rug,

You will enjoy your education at Tn Tech. The instructors are very knowledgeable and really care about your success. You will get plenty of seat time, and you will do some driving at night out on a two lane. They have some very new yard trucks for backing and a couple Petes for driving, one is brand new!
