Just wondering if any of you have been sidelined because of high blood pressure? I have had constant issues with high blood pressure and high cholesterol as a result of my 9-5 desk job and extreme habit for fast food. Obvioulsly trucking probably won't help much! Just talking out loud but I'd like to hear any advice you have. Thanks
High Blood pressure kept you from driving?

They don't test cholesterol just BP. if your meds control it shouldnt be a problem.Trekker1 Thanks this.

High BP is a no-no to pass a DOT physical. (140over90 max). However, it can be controlled almost instantly, within 1-2 days, after you start meds. Just stay on the meds, you'll be OK.

When getting your blood pressure checked make sure they use the old fashioned method , not the computerized way ,the readings are way off when they use the computerized blood pressure machine.

Thanks everyone for all the replies. I had my first DOT physical today. My BP was Normal and I passed! I received a one year certificate instead of two as I had a "history" of the problem. The next step is now getting the CDL permit.

And then of course off to school!
