excuse me? england CHARGES employees to go to work for them? are you kidding me?????

or you could just invest in some lottery tickets. good luck finding a local company who will hire someone with no experience.

most companies require 23-25 years of age (actually, their insurance companies require it.) didn't you research this before you went to school and plunked down the cash?

Yeah you could buy some lottery tickets and then you would be more money in the hole.

For the life of me I can't understand why and how people beleve since you don't have experiance you won't get hired. I know several including myself who got their cdl license and never went further than 100 miles away from home there whole career and had 0 experiance when we started.

The fact is the local jobs are out their and they are obtainable if you put some effort into it. If you listen to people who say you can't get local then yes you can't get it. If you try and don't give up then you can. It's all about you and how you approach it. The way I see it the only way you can fail is go to one of those bottom feeding crap company's and let them screw you and then and only then you will wish you had found something local from the get go.

Granted you will have to start at the bottom of the heap maybe to get local, you may not like the job that much but it's a start and thats all that counts. Get some time in look while your working and home everynight and then move on to something else.

I can tell you that the written information sheet I got from Stevens at one of their hiring seminars states under Qualifications that they only require you be at least 22 years of age. Just FYI.

the point I was making if you'll have better luck winning the lottery than getting a local job out of school. but yes, there ARE companies that will hire for local work out of school. I applied to one to drive a tractor trailer delivering lumber. 14 hours a day typical work day. pay - $9.00 hour. sorry, i didn't fork over $3,000 for driving school for a job making $9.00. sadly, that's still more than most OTR drivers are making now. most drivers start out OTR, think they want to work local, do it for a while, then go back OTR when they decide they've had enough back breaking local work.

just looked at their website. WOW!!!! they're essentially CHARGING their new drivers fresh out of school $1,500 to attend their orientation. every other company PAYS the new hire for attending orientation, but NOT $1,500!!! is anybody seriously stupid enough to go for this?!?! unbelievable!!! why do you need a 17 day "school refresher" if you JUST CAME OUT OF SCHOOL?????? and I see they're still pushing their lease option scam. we won't go into what a horrific nightmare that is!! plenty of threads on that already. good freaking god these trucking companies have gone absolutely bonkers!! I'm not jewish, but oy vey, the chutzpah!!! they're trying to steal money from people who are already most likely in debt and in financial trouble to make themselves even richer. have they ever looked up "ethics" in the dictionary???? this is as bad as these real estate investment gurus who try to sell some BS "no down payment" investment "bootcamp" course to some poor motherf****r for $5,000 (on their credit card of course.) I'm now at a loss for words.....

I think you guys misread that one. Well the idiots who made the sight should have been more clear actually, I can see how it was confusing though. Anyways it never says as a student fresh out of school you have to pay the $1,500. If that was the case then why would they pay you during your oreintation if they are charging you too, kinda don't make sense.

If you look it says a refresher course is $1500 dollars, still a bunch of BS paying for a refresher to drive for them. The sad part is they are charging guys with experiance for a refresher course to work for them. That is a bunch of crap. I would think test the guys out for a week or so and see how they handle things and base things on how much experiance they actually have and if things go well turn them loose. Thats to easy though. They want that money.

Anyways I seen on the first page how they have premium pay at 50 cent's a mile. I find that highly unlikely
