I am down to the final paperwork on the lease, but im about to chicken out. I have my own authority now, and am not looking forward to letting it go, but i'm not doing all that good anymore. I want to do better money-wise and have a nice variety of reliable, and unique freight. So here is the deal, I like to be home on the weekends here near Atlanta, Ga, i have a 53' Step with ramps, i like to run Texas/New Mexico/Oklahoma and mid-west with equipment, i would like to go to these places weekly and get a decent back-haul and make good money. Would this be possible with Landstar? I hear and read so many mixed feelings from people who are with them. Any info good or bad is priceless to me. Thanks![]()

A long time friend of mine has been there almost 5 years. He books his own loads. Has an APU when he needs to wait for decent paying freight. He books his own loads on his laptop. I guess he has a good working relationship with the brokers. He has learned which brokers to stay away from.
I believe one of the keys to doing better is to pay your own fuel taxes. Not let them do it for you. You should come out $$ ahead.
He controls a lot of his down time. He is a O/O that does what he says. -
its a game if you find good agents you can make it but just runing off the load bord will keep you runing but may not pay the best i would like to run for landstar but i need more up to date OTR and haveing a hard time gitting moving right now so
i have not herd any thing bad about landstar but i have not worked for them my self and only know freinds that have worked for them
