That sucks, on the flip side you are definitely not alone, there are craploads of drivers with sleep apnea. At least that's what the word is.
-
Mdub,
Not that i have a cpap myself but there are drivers in our fleet that have cpap machine in their trucks. I really don't think it it going to be an issue for you. -
Trying to figure out if my husbands schedule is normal or abnormal. We live in Kentucky so he runs mainly in the northeast. He usually gets home on the weekends but usually it isn't until Saturday and most of the time he needs to leave by 3 or 4 on Sunday. It is impossibly to get home any sooner without running over hours. He says mainly it is because his fm doesn't get him a load dropping off close to home on Friday so he can pick up close to home on Friday. For example last week he dropped off in Chicago Friday morning and then picked up. He was 2 hours away from home when he ran out of hours Friday at 9pm. Is this normal? Sometimes he doesn't even get his 32 hour reset on the weekends.
-
I hesitate to say it's normal but it's not unusual. I was supposed to be home last Thursday night and they sent me to the east coast (I live in the Chicago area) and gave me a load that didn't unload until Friday. It happens more than it should given how many drivers they have and how slow freight is. TMC looks at one thing above all else, is that truck earning that day.
-
This gets better as he works for them longer and gets to learn freight lanes and where common freight is headed and picked up.
Also remember, the earlier he leaves out sunday and makes his delivery on monday the earlier he will get home that following weekend.
There will always been weekends like this, though, it's trucking in general, sadly it's unpredictable, i wouldn't say that it's just TMC.cplmac2 Thanks this. -
Hurrycne said: ↑mDub,
If you're retiring from the Navy, stick with TRICARE Prime & the TRICARE Retiree Dental Program, they're both far less expensive and offer the same, if not better, coverage as TMC's policies.
(For example, TMC uses Delta Dental, as does the TRDP. TMC is $87.80/wk for a family of four. TRICARE Prime is $460/yr & TRDP in MS is $102.55/mo for family of 3 or more.)Click to expand... -
Isn't it odd how EVERYONE has sleep apnea now a days? But for years drivers have been living with it just fine, now suddenly, it's a big issue.
Starting to seem like a money making ploy to me. -
I think you're exactly right eckz, it was suspect to me as well. Just doesn't jive that all of a sudden there is this chronic illness striking truckers.
mDub you might want to look at Maverick they're headquartered in Little Rock so they might be more of a southeast carrier. Good luck.
