    Thanks gr8 you bet,

I am from Southern Oregon. I went to school at IITR in Medford. I graduated top in my class. I had a pre hire from Swift, and thats where I am now. I am loveing every min of it. I live the independance of it all.

My family owned a rental business for 14 years in Southern Oregon, and the economy took us out (not big enough for a gov bail out) wanted to stay in Southern Oregon and so did what I had to do, go on the road. Currently doing OTR with a family that is so supportive they are to die for. I could not do today what I am doing, if it was not for my family support.

I am expecting to work for Swift for a while. I know job hopping is bad regardless of what company or industray you are in. My business side wants to figure out how to make this a business that I can be sucessful at. All things being equal, this is not a bad time to have a job and I love the one I currently have.

    bullhaulerswife Thanks this.

Do you drive the cross country, or regional, do they have you in decent truck? It appeals to me also to not have someone looking over your shoulder-I had a cdl but
just haven't had the courage to make the leap so I surrendered it- how dumb was that? Graduated from a driving program from a small college, they showed me enough to get my license that was it. I also graduated near the top of my class, heard some horror stories from my instructor-sort of scared me off...

    thanks again gr8,

everything is what you make of it. I was fortunate, Good School and by that I mean when I arrived at orentation for swift, 2 groups of poeple did not have to take a drive test, those who graduated from Swift Acadamy and those from IITR, i felt privilaged. I had a great trainer. 13 years with swift, taught me things I did not know untill after I got solo, some things I feel sorry for other drivers that were not trained by my trainer, but such is life.

My eqipment is a Volvo 670, not the truck I wanted but it has proven so far to be a dependable partner, takeing good care of me, and me of it. It works hard and pullls hard and has some redeeming qualities. Balance beeing key.

Currently I am running west of the Mississippi. This is on my DM's advice. I have a wonderful DM, scratch that, an awsome DM, he works well with me.

All schools show you enough to get your licenese. you do not really learn untill out on the roan and not really untill un your own. Its progressive. I would encourage you to get your cdl back and persue your dream.

As far as the horror storries goes .... every industry has them, ignore them. do whats good for you.
