What do you like best about trucking?

Shift some gears, set the cruise, hold the wheel, blink the turn signal, then maneuver into the unloading point for 80k a year with full benefits.
I really like talking to the receivers and learning about what they use the product for that I just delivered. Especially the hazmat loads. It's neat to see that the 46,000 lbs of material that I just hauled is going towards making shampoos, skin care products, making a towns water drinkable, playing a key role in making American steel...it's rewarding to me

 

I've always loved big trucks since I was a kid. Driving a flat top,flat windshield W9 with turn outs,external breathers,moose bumper and a 550 Cat is about the most fun you can have with your clothes on. I own my own truck,trailer and authority too so I only go to work when and where I feel like it.

 

Driving around wondering why noone can find bigfoot..

I like the adventure of it , driving thru the west and seeing this beautiful country. Other than that I wouldn't recommend it for most ppl.

 

I like being given an assignment, then left alone to do it. No micromanaging, no pencil neck with a clipboard standing behind me.

Someone else on this forum said this, but I try to keep it in mind every day:

5. Call me crazy, but I actually like truck stops and living in the truck

 

I love the high pay, low government regulations, and appreciation that the general public has for truck drivers.

I ate there twice last week, although not the burritos. They have great clam chowder in the diner available every day of the week.

Waking up in a different place almost every day. After a while, most places feel like Home in some way.
