1. Attention employers: We now require a valid DOT# for anyone wishing to post a driving position. If your job offer doesn't contain a DOT number, it will not get past moderation and will not appear in the forum. The other requirements in the sticky at the top of this section are still required as well. Thank you for understanding.

Okay...this is the type job I need...any suggestions?

What do they call it? The "Work for a week and quit on Saturday" plan?

    blessedtrucker,
You mention a clean 3yr MVR? Just about none of the carriers out there will hire unless its squeaky clean for 5 yrs(minor speeding tickets maybe 2 in 5 yrs).
I don't wish to come off harsh here but I would stick to the Dump Truck gig.
More money, less hassle. Also, leave mom at home. Especially if she has health issues.
    God Bless You and Yours

Guys and Gals.....what I find unbelieble about this thread.

Is the original posters support group. :biggrin_25513:

What's this I wanna be home on Sunday so I can go to MY church BS ? Is your church so special that you would give up any chance at work?

Or are you the Pastor, and looking for fill work through the week?

I can tell you what company would hire you, allow your wife to ride. AND give you Sundays off to attend church. BUT it wouldn't be YOUR church.

BUT it would be a church.

So the obvious problem, is NOT the job.

Thank all of you for your input- positive and negative. As I said, I've been driving over 20 yrs., not in a dump truck for over 10 yrs. Not that I would have a problem with that - I'd be fine with it. The last 3 yrs I've worked for a regional carrier pulling a bulk tanker. I am home most nights, but work has slowed to maybe 600-800 miles a week. My wife having issues with her health is exactly why I DON'T want to leave her home alone for weeks at a time. She already rides with me now. Believe me, I have looked everywhere for a local job - I would love to be paid for the actual hours I work and be home at night - but no one in this area is hiring right now. Maybe that will change soon. One thing that was said that I do agree with, though, is that God is in control and He knows what we need! I know I listed alot of things I would like to have, but that's why I did, to get yall's input to see how realistic it is to look for those things. I'm gonna stay put until God opens the door He wants me to go through, and just trust Him one day at a time. Thanks again for all of your input! I don't think any of you are being cruel or "a jerk". Your just going by what you have experienced - and that's what I wanted - honest opinions! God bless you all and be safe!

No sir, I'm not the pastor, and actually I shouldn't have said "my" church. It is God's church, that He has blessed me by allowing me to be a member of. And although I love the church I'm a member of, it's not the reason I want to go.
My Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ, is the reason I want to be there. He saved my life, my marriage, and my hell-deserving soul, and yes, that is more important to me than a job. God is SO GOOD! Thanks again for all your input!

    I'm sorry...but this doesn't hold water.

God doesn't care what the location is. You are the one holding this door shut.

I understand your needs, and your desires. But you can't (or at least shouldn't) use this particular church as an excuse NOT to work.

Referance the story of Abraham for further guidance.

God cares about every aspect of our lives. He is the one who led us to that particular church, and in joining, we did so to support, attend and be a faithful part of that church. I know that may be hard to understand, but I know that's where we need to be. Not making excuses, just trying to explain my reasons.

If you can handle flatbed, try McElroy. Fits the bill except I don't know about the rider from day one.

You'll have to accepting though. Their Christian principles stem from the 7th day Adventist church.

check out CT Transportation out of Savannah. they'll probably meet all your requirements. you'll frequently leave on sunday to make a monday delivery, but most of the time you can leave in the afternoon.
