Laramie has some high winds east of the town as you climb out (Or drop down westbound) tonight. Temp 21 and windchills are going to be less than that. Personally I would wait this out. The Dispatcher will just have to find a way to not stress about the ruined appt time.

My first winter in a 18 wheeler involved a trainer across west virginia mountains in the dead of winter. The ferocity or BIG snow etc didnt matter. Winter 101. Or all three types in a single hill. Rain, ice then snow back to ice then rain and then back to ice... to ever more snow...ghostcookie, Dave_in_AZ and FerrissWheel Thank this. -
Ita not the fact that its slick and and icy that is the problem... Its the fact that so many drivers drive to fast for conditions, follow to closely, dont know how to drive safely in poor conditions, and over drive thier visibility and stopping ability.
The problem is NOT the weather and conditions... It is the drivers. But you cant put a sign up that reads "Road closed to hazardous drivers, safe drivers may proceed."
A good driver will know when to slow down, and when he can go faster... Only vehicle on the road with clear visibility??? You can go a little faster, even in less than ideal conditions... Heavy traffic and/or poor visibility??? Better be backing off that throttle quite a #### lot.
It's not being able to go quickly in these conditions that usually gets one in trouble... It's NOT being able to stop quickly. Id bet that many of the drivers involved in this accident had never experienced the feeling of acceleration while applying the brakes before that day of the crash.Dale thompson, TokyoJoe, drvrtech77 and 14 others Thank this. -
