It sounds like the training at JB hasn't changed much. I heard Tom Walter left, which is a huge plus, but Rex is still Rex, from the sound of it.
Best of luck from another Montana flatbedder, age 57.
Keep the updates coming.
NewBeginnings87 and rachi Thank this. -
I haven't heard of Tom so you might be correct about him being gone. Sounds like you know Rex. Thanks for the well wishes.rachi and Odin's Rabid Dog Thank this.

I started training under Tom and Rex back in 2015. I left about a week before testing, because I got sick and tired of the verbal abuse from both of them. The unnecessary yelling, the constant bickering between them, it was like watching children fighting.
Rex knows flatbedding, but in my opinion, he's a poor manager due to zero people skills. Which is a real loss to the industry, or not.
Anyhow, good luck!

Update time: Training has continued. He's done some day runs to Grangeville and Moyie Springs, ID, with a trainer, and yesterday he went to Kamiah, ID on his own. He'll leave sometime today to deliver one load and pick up another near Spokane, WA, and will be taking the one he picks up to Alvarado, TX, stopping at home for about a day, on the way.
One of my favorite parts...remember, he's 65...was when he finally got to tarp a load all by himself. People were telling him how sore he was going to be; how he was "really going to feel it in the morning." I asked him in the morning if he was sore and he said, "I don't know...I don't feel anything?" I was like, "Yeah, that means you're not sore." It was almost like he was afraid to believe it.

Thanks for the update. Let us know how things are going.

Keep up the good work and I wish both of you the best.

Glad he's liking it. I dont know about any of the truck stops around there, I dont think any of them are great. Depending on where he's reloading, there's a couple decent places on 35E, he can cut over on 67 through Midloathian to Waxahachie. That way if he has to reload in Dfw, he can run straight up in. If they reload him S of there, Petro & TA in Carls Corner are both huge and have decent food.
P. S. I like the rookie new boots and safety vest. I dont care what anyone says, get a good pair of tennis shoes to wear. I bet Im in shoes 95% of the time now.NewBeginnings87 Thanks this. -
Thank you, I will pass on the advice about truck stops. I've appreciated your support since I posted the first time. The thing to know about my husband is, he doesn't wear shoes, doesn't even own any. Those boots are leftover from his last job and his daily shoes. Dressing up...and he wears a full suit and tie to church on Sundays...means cowboy boots.

His feet, legs and back will thank him if he gets some good tennis shoes to wear atleast when he's driving.
All I've worn for years are boots, good quality Double H's and in the last few yrs Ive realized that constantly being in them was causing my back issues, even changing out insoles regularly.NewBeginnings87 Thanks this.
