I ran out East a few times while driving on the van side, but when I ran on the west they kept me moving pretty well, rarely a 24 hr layover.. but then again, I got along really well with dispatch.. even with Levi.

Can the same be said about newbie drivers? getting the runs etc.
-
this and thay??? learn english, where am i? im in my truck, where do u think i am?? i run ocean to ocean, country to country, and everywhere inbetween. lest see, San fran to summerville sc? 2885 miles, seems a bit more then just west of the miss. river
its clear nawlins, ur a cry baby dude, uv got nothing better to do then sit here, and waste ur time dude..
any idea why the flatbeds keep moving non stop nawlins?? cause they only have around 100 or so of them, with plenty for them to haul
as opposed to 650 van drivers....so where exactly is your point?
to answer ur question lynch, yes they can, happens often, its not unusual for newbs to run 10,000 a month, nawlins dont no about 10k a month, he's a cry baby who hates watkins shepard and has nothing better to do other then say his usual crap such as
" west coast regional " nadine and shirley " same places over and over " really dude, u sound like a broken record.
and to quote nawlins, " Man them in and out burger joints show are tasty. "
what show are u talking about???
im not sure about them in out burger joints, my fridge works just fine for me.
ur just not going to give up are you? -
Hey ajava , nice to know you can have decent dialoge with someone fom watkins.
that was my piont few times east but most of their money is on the west coast regional runs. whats the debate here.
When I applied to w/s recruiting explained to me that my job would be longhaul, wow they do lie.
I did longhaul twice once to get me on the western loop and the other to get me home.
Really watkins have teams and O/O's to keep happy with the longhaul; totally understand but be honest about it.
Sb flatbed has less trucks, man stop crying and deal with it please. country to country man SB you have not even been to alabama yet who you talking too. Now since Java said canada you too are willing to jump on that bandwagon funny ish.
You said earlier watkins don't put on chains, don't worry wait on it .
The highways you run on look like railroad crossings, don't tell people this just tell them u have not needed them yet.
Just like I know u will have a story about oocheekooche, Alabama next; and how you maraciously drop a load off in toronto, right outside of the Alaska mountains. Wait people he also took a load down to mexico city, Mexico from Montana wow how many miles u drove. I'll wait it's coming!!!
Country to country u just could not make this up. -
Just my observation here... S2B and Orleans.
Are you guys having a d### bumping contest ?
I've met you both, and it's just my opinion. You both have the same attitude when it comes to your specific priorities. Although you may have choosen differant paths to get there, they have crossed.
And you guys are more alike than you're willing to admit.
S2B, being single. It's difficult for you to completely understand where Orleans is coming from, and the shear frustration a man has when he IS trying to take care of his own. Even when events are completely in his control.
And Orleans, having been married awhile. Your prospective has changed on being single. With little or no debt.
What really seperates you two, is the need for consistancy. S2B is not hassled by someone else depending on his money on a week to week basis. And Orleans no longer has the freedom to just say no.
3000 miles a week is excellent money for a single man. It's chicken feed, for a married man...with kids. Marriage changes everything.
S2B...for the first time in my life. My son called me this week, and told me he finally understood why I was the way I was...when I got home off the road.
It took a 62 hour drive to WA (only 7 of that in a motel), for that twinkle of information to hit him. -
Danc chris rock said it best " youre either married and bored, or single and lonely aint no happiness nowhere."
I have no problem with sb only that he's an 1 up type person; I break a leg he breaks 2 with the option to pop in a dislocated shoulder.
What I say about watkons will not make anyone change they mind even though I speak the truth. Like I said before even swift gets newbs some have to bump their heads.
Its just comical they cheerlead like what I say is going to drop their safety ratings or what not. -
I understand both of you. I've been single...and I've been married with a young wife and kids struggling to make ends meet. I found both of you to be decent guys IMO. And equally passionate about your goals. But your goals are vastly differant for the moment.
I've been OTR for many many years. And I've run regional for just as many.
There is a certain excitement to OTR, which fits nicely with being single. And you'll convince no single man (and many married men), that local or regional is better. Or that it even pays as good or better than OTR.
Even now, both your priorities are far far away from what they will be in another 20 years.
I love OTR, with a passion. But at my age, the BS just gets to be just that, bull sh##. I'm not going to work for low wages, and live in my truck. While I have a nice house sitting in MS.
That is why I left W&S. They certianly gave me the miles. I just didn't want them any more. And of course, I made more per mile as an experienced driver, than either of you.
Having said that. Regional sucks almost as much as OTR to me now. I have about the same money, with more time at home. But I'm limited to just a couple of days at a time, unless I ask for extra time off.
I would be thrilled to find a job as a casual driver getting about 1500 miles a week working just 2 or 3 days a week, at your rate of pay...it's all about priorities.
The one upmanship....is trucking. Always has been, always will be. We all have a taller tale than you to tell. You're both still in the learning stage LOL yes it gets annoying after about the 50th time you've heard the same story from the 100th different driver. But that's what makes this job fun sometimes.
You had a hard time getting in a tight dock. I had an even harder time at another. Simple truck stop chatter.
I can't even begin to give you the number of drivers who have told the "The officer said run over that car parked on the corner" in NYC story.
That story is truly urban legend now. -
That car bit wow, thats what I mean to top it off they be serious too.
No beef with sb I do biss his $&$ all the time its just too funny. You read this post and honestly u don't have to rent borat. -
How about this...instead of going back and forth...I say we end it this way...we all truck drivers...some OTR...some local...so let's make it a fair game...
Watkins Shepard Vs
Yellow...in a 2009 "Truck Off!"...let me explain...
5 drivers from Watkins and Yellow do a series of events...1 match is a "OTR Race"...NJ to Cali run...same route...80,000 maxed...our OTR trucks vs ya Day cabs and the first driver to get to cali legally by both drivers leaving NJ the same time...Wins...
Then we got another event...the "Dock Or Die"...a driver repping each company will back at the same dock with NO PULL UPS...the driver the gets it the most perfect with no pull up wins...
Then...the "Ride And Seek"...a local run with 5 drops...all the same places...the driver that completes his 5 stop run with the fastest time...wins...
Hmmm...what else...can't think of anything else right now...but... who would win in a series of trucking events...
:smt066Watkins And Shepard...Vs :smt067Yellow...
Oh and 1 question...why are your trucks Orange...when ya company called Yellow?...always wondered that... -
^^ Nice post Minus! I like the sound of that! You taking bets?
