Can you tell me when I don’t have to pay taxes? When do I pay and when I don’t. What’s included and what’s excluded?

Not being facetious, but I figure I'll stop paying taxes with my last breath.

Seriously though, what taxes are you referring too? Not much to go on...

You pay quarterly taxes , you can Google quarterly taxes and it should give you the dates . Some ppl wait till the end of the year but you will get a penalty for not paying quarterly. Just send the IRS 1000 every quarter than settle up at the end of the year .

    Coffey Thanks this.

I am sorry that I made it so unclear. I meant like auto parts, etc.

Always pay your sales tax when you purchase parts or supplies for your trucking business. If you own another business and have a sales tax license for that operation which most states require you will still pay the sales tax. By paying it upfront it alleviates paperwork and the need to deal with it twice. As for your federal tax , social security and other payroll taxes they pay quarterly and your 2290 is yearly , that's federal road tax it has to be paid before you receive your cab card - registration. There are other taxes IFTA , and state taxes depending on where you are operating from but that pretty much should give you some idea what to do.

Why would you pay sales tax unless you have to? MC# makes you tax exempt in many states. Don't see where you would deal with it twice.

What parts of it are exempt? Can you list a few?

MC #'s make you sales tax exempt? That's a new one on me. So how does that work without a resale number and filing quarterly reports with your state tax board?

Some states, not all, you can file tax exempt with your DOT/MC# for things specific to the truck. How far you go with it is up to you.

    jsnell and adayrider Thank this.
