Thats the worst of it?
HA.
You can try what I did. Back to a 60's era trailer without springs and end up chasing it across the field after knocking it off it's cinder blocks.
forgetting to lowering landing gear...

It has never happened to me, but I have forgotten a few times in my early years to remove the glad hands when dropping a trailer. Now that I remember, one of my trainees did forget to raise the landing gear and a four-wheeler honked at us while we were stopped in a traffic light. I remember jumping out of the truck and quickly raising it. Hahaha.
D.Tibbitt Thanks this. -
I did it the first time they gave me my own truck and told me "go hook up to that trailer over there. " man i was so excited to be a real trucker !! Sure let everybody know, within a 5 mile radius that it was my first day on the job. What a horrible sound that landing gear on concrete makes LOL
Lumper Humper, Vic Firth, bzinger and 3 others Thank this. -
One of the people pointed at my tractor and told the others "Hes new."
They scattered.
Much good it did them.Vic Firth, bzinger, LoneRanger and 1 other person Thank this. -
I have certainly absolutely NEVER done this with a full trailer load of coated pipe!
It ALWAYS takes me two hours to strap down a preloaded trailer, honest! -
I think I can top that....
One tester who was told to take me for a drive in a driving rain that was a near gale strength where the trailer was irrelevant since it could not be seen.
At the end in the yard again, he mops his head and says....
"Phew, thats over with..."
WHAT!? -
Try using the landing gear to raise a trailer with 50 ton on it.
I got side tracked from a customer running out to me to tell me that he changed his plans while I was unhooking empty at the time.
Fifth wheel was unhooked but haven’t pulled ahead yet.
After being loaded, (still never thought of the fifth wheel) went to drive.
My truck shot out like a sling shot after ramping down the fifth wheel even with me holding the brake pedal. Trailer landed just behind the truck frame.
That was also my lucky day that a giant 60/80 Versa Lift forklift happened to be on site.
Took 2 tries, first the back end came up off the ground, the operator extended the back end to increase lift capacity.
The fork lift got the trailer up enough I got back under.x1Heavy Thanks this.
