Beware of applying to Hill Brothers If you have any medical history involving high blood pressure, even though it is completely under control with medication. They have a ridiculous battery of tests during your physical, and the girl responsible for evaluating your eye chart test at the clinic they send you to for your physical is incompetent at her simple job. I had a recent eye exam before this and my results were perfectly within the D.O.T acceptable range, but was informed after 2 days of orientation and this ridiculous physical, by the Hill Bros. safety director that they could not hire me due to " vision in my left eye did not meet the D.O.T standard of 20/40. I stated to him that I would immediantly go and get glasses, if that were the case, which he responded "well, theres other things with your physical" I asked him "what things?" and he said he could not tell me. I am not overweight, have always considered myself to be a physically strong female. They stated several times in orientation that drivers who were not road worthy will be slowly eliminated from the trucking industry, adding that the D.O.T will be singling out these drivers. This would include drivers on sleep apnea machines, severely obese drivers, etc.etc. I dont know about you, but this sounds like discrimination to me! I'm certainly wondering at this point, who these companies are going to find to run their freight, who are perfect, physical specimens.
    Cyborgs, maybe??

Your so right. Thats why I just quit my company. I was sitting in our chicago yard waiting up to a day and a half for a load to run all the while watching russian, yugoslavian, polish? drivers brokered by our company, to run our loads cheaper per mile than what we were getting as a team. .47 cpm each doesnt mean much when you cant run the miles due to these guys. This scenario happened several times. Throw into the mix our company eliminating all bonuses and 401k contributions and you really have no reason to stay loyal to that kind of company. Changing companies in such a major pain.

Yeah, but it doesn't belong under this thread heading. Now if you had asked under the other two, I'd be inclined to respond. They are far from perfect, but certainly not BAD!

Just found this forum. I have been with Hill Bros now for 19 years. I don't plan on leaving. Have things always been perfect? nope. Are there things that I would like to see changed? Of course. But overall this company is the best fit for me. I have been looking around to see what others offer and I haven't been able to find others as good for me.

I've been a company driver, local driver, Omaha to Kansas City and back, and a L/P driver now for more then a few years. In the past years as a L/P driver I have always traded the truck off when I built up enough equity in the truck to trade it in and break even. Now with the truck prices depressed I have been in my Volvo for 3.5 years. Repairs have been a downer this year but still love the truck.

I make money with Hill, get home, and run in areas I like so all is good.
