Are hotels required for day cab driven OTR

    Probably like me. The answer is moot since he does not work there anymore.

    You cannot sleep in a car that is being hauled. It is considered freight. You also cannot sleep in the cab. A hotel/motel receipt is needed to support the off duty status.

    RoadMedic is right. Even hot shotters have to have a DOT acceptable sleeper on their one tons. Will try to find reg. Boss needs to spring for room or modify truck.

    Still has me wondering. I remember there being something about it, but I keep coming up empty handed looking through the FMCSR's.

    Took a month or so for my back ground check. But that was through a holiday so I'm sure that had a lot to do with it.

    Gotcha! That could be it. I did my background/fingerprint and had my letter in hand inside of a week. I was surprised.

    I have heard that also, but I am not sure. Do I need a hotel receipt when I am at my own house? How about the time I stayed the night with a buddy in Savannah?

    No, you can say where you stayed. You could also tell them you slept in the flying j tv room. Fell asleep watfching tv. Happens to you when you are at home too.

    Spent the night at a cousins. Spent the night at a new girl friends.
