I have a question for those of you who might have at one point in their recent career leased a vehicle contracted with one company-
What are the general rules regarding driving a leased truck while not on duty? If you work as a company driver for a large carrier who prohibits driving the truck around town while off duty, due the rules changes when you lease a truck with them? Are you allowed to drive around while home or hit a store if you're off duty if you pay for the fuel?

being since you are leasing the truck, you virtually own it and can use it for any purpose you see fit, so as long as you have personal bobtail insurance along with comp and collision, the insurance that most companies provide you with is while you are under dispatch (a load). As for your fuel, you are already paying for it, they are taking it out of your settlement
boogdaddy Thanks this. -
Why would you want to bobtail around town? Any car will be way cheaper to drive.... Yes, you can but why do you want to??

I won't get into my personal life too much on here, but I have immediate family located in several parts of the country. If I had a load to one of those areas, I wouldn't have to rent a car to see them if I so choose.
