It wouldn't matter if they had em. They would look at the size of year end bonuses for upper management, re-do the math. And cut them anyway.
Everybody jumped on the "turn em down" band wagon when fuel was over $4. NOBODY has turned em back up. Even if they installed APU's afterwards.
It's not about profits...unless it takes a dollar out of some ### wipes year end performance bonus. -
Danc, as a rule if a co cuts or takes something away it is gone for good...

Never a truer statement has been made.
I'm really concerned that instead of cutting my pay. They announce they'll no longer buy KY as it is too cost prohibitive.

WTF?!you give me one of the fastest (relatively speaking) most powerful company trucks on the road, then want to turn it down to 62? I have an 07 379, its geared a little higher than the two 06s I drove and it pulls like a freight train on hills. I pass other TMC trucks all day long. 60mph coming out of Cuyahoga Valley on the OH turnpike with 48k on the deck. these trucks aren't powered or geared to go 62. I go 70-72 down hills all the time... safely. might as well smoke myself retarded and go drive for Werner and try to put other TMC drivers out of their misery by running them off the road lol. anyone else get a nastygram from safety about tampering with equipment? my Iteris has a burned out fuse... haven't had a chance to replace it... TMC is a giant political machine. the illogical decisions and political culture are pushing me away.

sounds like all you guys need to apply for an engineering position with caterpillar since you're obviously all experts on engine dynamics. i need to call my wife and tell her to start driving my car faster so we can get better fuel mileage.

we were wide open trucks, mine would do 98mph on the pedal, boss cut them back to 75 to get a brake on insurance....
That sucked, but we were playing with fire, we would get in a pack and run 85mph and we were eventually going to get into trouble.
Boss chose 75, as it still allows us to make time, allows a complete trip in one 11hr period. And limiting them to 80 would not effect the insurance.

don't be "that guy" I am just pissed I'm not going to be able to pass megacarrier van drivers going uphill. this truck pulls perfectly at 65 turning 1350 RPM. my degree isn't in engineering, I just know I like my fast truck. 6mpg is decent enough for a truck the shape of a Pete 379. all I gotta say.
-
annnd I was looking forward to running out west this winter, it's gonna be murder at 62. I10/40/70/80 are gonna SUCK.

When i went from 70 to 65 there was absolutely no difference in MPG whatsoever. I kept track of it religiously, just to see if they were right.. Ofcourse, they weren't.
