No interest in going to Mexico unless there were loads going past the Panama Canal further down into south Ameria. That might be fun. Yea, got this beautiful load taking me from Colorado to Argentina! But lord knows a boat would be cheaper for that.

Seen to many stories of thefts and people trying to hitch rides on trucks, not to mention cartels.

Went to Mexico City in 2007 and 2008 with NASCAR. It was definitely an experience, got the T shirt.
At least back then you got the impression the government was still in some kind of control. I couldn't even imagine that trip now 13 years later.

Sounds like it was 4 years of chaos. 2008 was the last time they did that. I bet it’s a big relief for everyone in Nascar that they don’t have to deal with that anymore. Funny that it was called the Corona 200

Just the logistics involved...Had a briefing the night before we left. Call them if anything happens, don't go in the green taxis, if someone broke down everyone had to stop. They sent us in groups of 10 with Federales front and back plus private security. Wingfoot (Goodyear) had a service truck with every group. Had to run team.
1/2 of our team got so sick the last year so they were going to send the fat old truck driver over the wall to fuel the car!

Yes the green taxi’s. They are seen randomly on Texas side of border running around the lower valley and Laredo quite often. Sometimes as far north as Austin. You can be on IH-35 and be like WTF when you pass one of them up there.

They do love to congregate with all the weirdos around the outlet malls in Brownsville, McAllen, Laredo and San Marcos. Lol
