NYC and Chicago or both "victim disarmament zones" (no guns allowed...period)

Thats the way it goes usually...where you need them the most, they are illegal.

But then there is an old saying that goes like this..."Its better to be judged by 12, than carried by 6".

do most OTR companies allow you to bring a gun?

in movies you always see truckers with a shotgun.

In movies you also see cars flip 15 times, burst into flame, explode, and the guy walks out with out a scratch....:biggrin_2556:

pump shotgun is best bet....just not in NYC

If not crossing borders you can get away with a long gun hidden in the sleeper....

Simply do not give police a reason to search you, and sight your RIGHTS when asked by the cops to search you.....

cop: "mind if I search your cab"

driver: "I would rather you not violate my rights, and allow me on my way"

    cop: "got something to hide"

driver: "nope, would rather just not have my rights violated, unless you have a warrant or 'probable cause', I have no obligation to allow a search."

The company can do anything with the truck that they wish...police can too. (have never been searched by the company though...police either...only Border Patrol)

But either of them will require a search warrant to search me or my closed belongings (briefcase, etc.)

Yup... But be prepared for a fairly long non-custodial interview when/if you go that route.
