Hey just wondering if anyone has had any positive experience with an aftermarket VGT for a D16H? (Or any D13,16 for that matter)
I know there are aftermarket actuators out there, but unfortunately, I suspect the turbine itself is what failed on me last night. Fingers crossed the horrible noise I heard was on the exhaust side...
. and was not hot shards of junk working their way through all those very expensive moving parts.
Ugghhhhhhhhh
Thanks,
Jeff

Exhaust blanket on the turbo greatly extends the life of that actuator BTW
sirjeff Thanks this. -
My truck got the virus unfortunately. After digging in further, the sector shaft seized and I ended up with a cracked liner, likely busted valve, and coolant in the hole. I stopped all discovery work and teardown when I found out. Couldn't find an actual engine builder willing to inframe it, and volvo wont offer warranty on said inframe because of my exhaust modifications. So was in quite a pickle.
Then, right out of the sky! Found a 100% complete D16H with 10k miles on it out of a factory test truck, decommissioned in late 2017
Should be here monday (fingers crossed)
Praying for a smooth operation! *Should* be an easy swap. Hook up coolant hoses, swap over my ecm and carry on. -
sirjeff Thanks this.
