I have read through out the web including this site that driver pay was better during the 70s-80s when you adjust for inflation and the cost of living which wouldn’t surprise me. I don’t know if it was this site or somewhere else but I read that a guy who started driving back in the 70s made $20,00 plus his first year. Whatever it was when adjusted for inflation it was around $117,000 in today’s dollars. Doe this sound about right for how much the pay was back then.

I don't know why everyone always singles out trucking when this topic comes up.

Purchasing power has declined across most segments of society, except the elite.

And the truck stop women were absolutely HOT, the food was better, trucks were better, dope was better, the whole country was a better place.

Let's take that stroll down memory lane now.

    OK, I'll bite.
    1. Wouldn't know about TS women. Why settle for hamburger when you filet mignon at home.
    2. The food was better, hands down, although I did get food poisoning on the road twice.
    3. Trucks were not better, that was easy.
    4. Never did dope then or now, couldn't tell you. Ask Tim Leary, aw shucks he's gone now.
    5. The country was a much better place, depending where you lived of course, South Bronx, ah, probably not.

    OK, your turn....

This video explains / captures everything. And it's 100% true. In fact, it's a documentary.

Also notice their weapons are better. One has a 357 Python and the other a pump action 12 gauge. No whimsy auto loaders like some of our posters use.
