Religion has the great commission, once it's fulfilled. Everything else is just a journey. No debating here on my end.

I deny nothing But I don't go out for things I know is bad for me. Like a child thats been burnt two times at the gas stove waiting on dinner to boil. Dinner will come around soon enough. (Forget the meal, it's the ice cream after that was the goal...)

When you drive long enough you realize you have plenty of time to think. For some that is a joy, for others there are difficulties with that activity.

    And what’s wrong with Opera?

It’s old and not cool and modern and the girls don’t like it?”

It’s a shame that young guys put so much effort to attain female validation.

At the risk of bringing an old thread back to life, I just wanted to say that I am impressed with some of the writing ability displayed in this thread. It was a joy to read the philosophical musings that lie within.
My proverbial .02 on the matter would be similar to the masses that came before me. Your post can be construed as "self centered ", but in reality it is just written from your perspective.
It is by design, that with age, our ideals and how we view the world and our surroundings changes. Through experience we realize that the generations that came before us know what they are talking about, because they learned the same way we did. It's the only form of evolution I believe in.
The only hole in this version of the theory of evolution is this; country music. What passes today as 'country music' is without explanation. How we got from the highwaymen era to..... bro country is beyond me.

You know what else generations of old timers believed in that their babies revolted against? God. And as the whole world suddenly contemplates death by airborne disease that the legions of agnostic scientists cant solve, a new generation with nowhere else to run to will look to Him. Better late than never. It would suck to write your "i was wrong" treatise from hell.

And the highwaymen were grandchildren of country. Jimmy rogers and the carter family are gen1.. 1929. Youtube wabash cannonball or blue yodel if you wanna see where it started. Country music was barefoot, isolated mountain folk that the rest of the world laughed at from those big congested cities full of cash. Nashville is just a machine to attract and exploit what could never originate there in yet another filthy city. Its sort of like coal or stone. The poor hillbilly always brings it out of the woods for the rich man to have.

Country music came from hillbilly church towns yet the devil managed to take the Lord out of that too. Thats why it sucks and isnt country. Because countryfolk still pray and go to church.

I whole heartedly agree with you. The more society isolates themselves from God, the worse things get all around. I have great kids, and I attribute that to the fact that they are raised using the instruction manual we were given, the bible.
Most of the world is navigating with a broken moral compass. I do hope you're right. That this "pandemic" brings people back home, and back to Him.
As for the music, I was raised on old country. Hank sr. And the like. I will surely check out the others you suggest.

There is a 8 part tv series, 2 hrs each with no commercials, put together by Ken Burns broadcast on PBS. Traces country music from the early days to the present with a lot of good music and interviews. I really enjoyed it. You can still watch it

Old hank and the like were raised on jimmy rogers and the carter scratch. Youll know it when you hear it. My sons name is hank.

And thanks for posting. Those of us that are full of faith and doing fine never make any noise when the rest of the world is in shambles and we are wrong not to speak up and lead others to the calm throughout the storm.
