Do think I could run for a while if I get the motor mount, exhaust, and hose taken care of? At least a month or so, I could move some things around probably. Better than being completely shut down and walking away.

:biggrin_25516: DO NOT MOVE THAT TRUCK AGAIN UNDER ITS OWN POWER ! :biggrin_25510:

You do not have coolant, you can not see the engine temp the gauges do not work without coolant. You are in serious risk of irreparable engine damage.

You will not be able to tell this until you can see what actually got damaged. If nothing is twisted underneath you may be fine. Somethings can't be determined until you can run it under load.

He's not talking about running it without coolant. Besides the truck probably wouldn't run anyway, the ecm would shut it down.

Did I read your post right, you had a quart of oil come out from your coolant hose? I don't think that sounds good. :biggrin_25512: Really not supposed to have oil in there. You'd need to keep a good eye on it til you figure out where the oil is coming from. Are you gonna be able to pull the funds to get those 3 things fixed?

I would imagine you might could run it for awhile pharm. But you need to find out where the oil is coming from. We had a few macks that sprung leaks in the air compressors and got oil in the coolant that way. Kinda giving a false impression of a ailing motor.

Are you sure it was oil and not soot, the egr in those motors are known for problems. Sometimes ive seen soot floating on or in coolant to look very similar to oil, which could just be coming from egr. Have you lost any coolant lately? Hell this could of happened a awhile ago and still be flushing out soot for all you know.

You know, I'm not a complete bum, I have a grand or so, under usual circumstances someone might think that's a lot of money. Unfortunately for trucks it ain't crap.

So, no, not without someone who knows what they're doing to help me out. I can get the parts and throw something at labor, a gesture, a steak dinner and promise of more later, but not a pro shop plus a wrecker... heck no. In fact the guys that came out and looked at it now just told me they wouldn't even go put a hose on it for me at this point due to liability. That's the world we live in I guess.

Yes, what I'm hoping is that it's been like that all along, didn't know about it, blissfully ignorant and that it will be just fine.

It's a crapshoot. Could be left over, could be an oil cooler, could be a piston... range is from simple to devastating. All I know is I can't do anything about it unless I can earn.
