I know I haven't been with them more than a few months, but this is company has treated me very well.
They are a small reefer company, running only about 15 trucks at any given time. That being said, they are very strong, and have been around for years. The owners are in everyday and are always up for conversation. I've joked around with them, chatted with them, and dealt directly with them for anything I've needed.
The office staff is also very small, and it is a family-owned and operated company. The TM, dispatcher, and safety manager are about as good as they come.
The trucks are all late model Volvos, and are maintained mostly in-house. Our accounts are basically all dedicated, so not much brokering, if any.
The company really only runs the upper mid-west. Trips are out one week at a time, home every weekend. Also, there are a lot of trips back to this area, so it isn't uncommon for a driver to get home sometime in the week for a bit as well.
The pay is load percentage when running OTR, and hourly if you run local. I could make more for another company in terms of money, but there is a whole quality of life difference it seems. The benefits are better than any of the higher paying corporate jobs I've had, and cost me less, believe it or not.
So far, I'm very happy making this choice. The only way I think I could be happier doing this job would be if I owned a fleet of my own. These guys are very driver oriented, which probably comes from the owners being the first drivers. Hell, they even run loads on occasion still, when needed to help a driver out.
Like any company, there are a few quirks, but nothing I can think of even worth mentioning.
They don't hire often, but when they do, it is definitely worth the effort to get in with them. Will you be rich? No. But they pay well enough to support a family, and they do bend over backwards for the drivers.

I used to see their trucks when I ran Wausau, WI.

Yup, based out of Stevens Point. So far, I haven't had to deal with any of the other BS the industry is suffering from, aside from a slight lack of freight. They do keep us moving, though.
-
What kind of freight do they run? How many miles are you running a week. What is the percentage base they are paying off of? What states do they run? What is average weekly pay? TYIA
-
All reefer trailers. I really don't pay much attention to mileage because we run off percentage of load pay. 20%-22% depending on length of employment. Right now, they are running Wisconsin, Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, and Ohio primarily.
Weekly pay varies by freight, and I'd rather not post my pay stubs. I will say it seems to be more than most of the people I've seen when I was researching OTR companies, and we're not out more than 5 days at a time.Gitty Thanks this. -
way to go and best of luck to you NoPhix. I'm glad you found a decent trucking company to work for. I finally found one in the Albany,NY area that is a small company about 100 tractors and I'm happy with them been here a little over a year. I've got a great dispatcher she is a former driver and so knows alot about the places we deliver to and all that. I talk with our safety people alot and they are one of the best groups of people I've ever worked with. Its family owned also which is nice. Godspeed NoPhix and be safe out there

Only 15 trucks? I thought they were a bigger outfit then that.

They used to be, but years ago something happened and they decided to get smaller. Since then, they've kept it that way.
