Things will be fine. Pete did this trucking gig his whole life. He was one of these guys who probably was never going to give it up. It was all he knew and you could tell he enjoyed trucking.
AmPm Express is who our trucks are leased to. They have some company trucks as well as O/O. My dad is going to have an AmPm company driver drive Pete's truck for a couple of weeks untill we are able to get back on track. We know this driver and he is already familiar with AmPM. AmPm offered this driver for my Dad to use which will help in our situation.
I went and visited Pete's family. Pete's son-in-law is going to clean out the truck. This made me happy because my Dad and I were not looking forward to it. Pete was to pick-up a load tomorrow. The fill in driver is going to haul it. I am going back to Pete's house this afternoon to get the truck. I will hook-up his trailer and take the truck and trailer to Hope,In. and leave it at AmPM's shop.
I have really mixed emotions today. Pete was a mentor to me. I will miss him. It will be strange for someone else to drive his truck. I know Pete would not want me to be sad or shed a tear but,it is hard. I have decided to try to do as Pete would like. I am going to stay up beat. Tomorrow when I head out with my load to Detroit I am going to have a smile on my face for Pete.
THANK-YOU ALL FOR LISTENING.

Wayne and I have talked so much about Pete, I feel like I knew him as well. I was deeply affected when I got the news. He helped me move my fifth wheel during my first 2 weeks out when I got pulled behind the scale for the first time.
This guy had the best BS trucker stories you could ask for. A true entertainer. He'll talk his way through those gates
Sorry again Wayne, and Godspeed Petey.ampm wayne and The Challenger Thank this.
